All-rounder Corey Anderson flies back to join Mumbai Indians team: The Mumbai Indians (MI) is back on track in their Pepsi IPL 2015 journey with four wins in their last five matches, hopes have lived again and the situation this season looks pretty similar to what we saw in the previous edition. Mumbai first lost matches like they can never win and then picked things up from almost hopeless situation and went on to qualify for the play offs.
This time round as well Rohit Sharma’s men after a disappointing start have managed to peak just at the right time. MI now has 8 points in 9 matches but they still need to win most games from the remaining 5 to make their case evident. Their chance of making things right got a real boost when New Zealand all-rounder Corey Anderson who had made his way back home following a fractured finger rejoined the team on Monday.
It is learnt that the finger injury has not yet healed fully and Anderson will need some time before being fielded. But since the team now senses a real possibility of qualification, with form of most of the players by their side and if Anderson is able to play being 80% he surely ads lot of quality to the balance of the MI squad, which now looks at Kieron Pollard to fulfill the all-rounder’s role.
Anderson will be under observation for the next few days, thought he will be rested for the game against Delhi Daredevils, the management is certainly expecting him to be good enough to play in the all important game vs. the Super Kings on the 8th. The Kiwi has played 4 matches for MI thus far in the season and has scored 114 runs with 2 half-centuries and a wicket with the ball. No wonder the Mumbai boys are excited about his return.
