After a fantastic outing in the Indian Premier League 2018, Ambati Rayudu and his cricketing career seemed to be on the road to resurrection. However, as unlucky as he has been in his career, Rayudu failed the yo-yo Test and was once again thrust back into the ineligible pile, something the 32-year old has been used to in recent times. He eventually lost out on the place he deserved for the England tour as he was replaced rather promptly.

However, despite the setback, Rayudu is set to re-take the Yo-yo Test and is also seems keen on completing his comeback. He also added that he is working hard and expects to be on the selector’s radar once more.

“I am still working hard to play for India and I’ll be having a test soon… in a few weeks’ time. So, after I pass it, I’ll be available for selection again,” said Rayudu on being asked how close he is to completing his India comeback.

‘Lucky to have been picked by CSK’

Speaking about his stint with the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL this time around, Rayudu said that he was indeed happy and pleased to have been selected by the Kings. Having been moved to the opener’s slot alongside Shane Watson, the 32-year old was in phenomenal touch right through as he went ahead and lifted yet another IPL title with his newfound home.

Rayudu said, “I was really lucky to be picked by CSK. The freedom the team management give the players to express themselves and (provide) the kind of backing a player should get when he plays cricket are unique to the franchise. I am happy that I experienced it fully with Mahi bhai.”
