It was a frustrating day for the Quetta Gladiators and batsman Anwar Ali in particular on March 1. Not only was he dismissed in an unfortunate fashion, his team also lost a close match. Ahead of the match, Peshawar Zalmi had only one win from three matches and eventually their injured skipper, Darren Sammy with his cameo towards the end guided his team home. It was one of the most exciting matches of this edition’s Pakistan Super League at the Sharjah International Stadium.

For Anwar Ali, though, his dismissal was an unfortunate one because the batsman was hit-wicket during the match of the bowling of Wahab Riaz. What makes it interesting is the fact that the batsman had actually struck the ball well. It went sailing over the mid-wicket boundary for a six. However, while attempting the shot he had stepped so deep into the crease that his heel ended up touching the stumps. As a result, his back leg dislodged a bail.

Watch it here:

However, the batsmen on crease were under the impression that the ball had gone all the way. Even the spectators were celebrating the six. It was only when Zalmi players started celebrating with Wahab Riaz that the spectators realized that something was wrong. Umpire Aleem Dar was quick to notice the incident and adjudged him out. In the end, it was a terrific shot by Anwar but that earned him nothing.

Eventually, the match was won by the Peshawar Zalmi by 5 wickets. Skipper Darren Sammy came good in the end with a blistering 16-run cameo. Quetta’s bowlers pulled things back, but the Peshawar captain brought all his T20 experience to the crease. It was courageous stuff from the skipper who was struggling to even stand.

He won them the game out of nowhere. However, he was later scheduled to go for MRI and his participation in the remaining matches is uncertain.
