The Bangladesh cricket team left the Indian fans stunned at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday by winning the first T20I against the home team by 7 wickets. Senior wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim slammed 60 not out in just 43 balls to help his team overhaul the target of 149 with three balls to spare. It was the Tigers’ first-ever win over India in the shortest format and a special occasion for all of Bangladesh to rejoice.

On Monday morning, the visiting cricketers saw in their company Bollywood actor, director and producer Arbaaz Khan. The 52-year-old, who is co-producing with his brother Salman Khan’s upcoming film ‘Dabangg 3’, made the moment at the IGI Airport memorable by clicking a selfie with Mahmudullah’s men.

“Met the victorious Bangladesh cricket team at the Delhi airport. Mushfiqur Rahim was incredible, looking forward to an exciting contest ahead,” Arbaaz wrote to his Twitter followers, numbering over 1.5 million, along with posting the picture.

Bangladesh faced a number of problems ahead of the India tour – first a players’ mutiny that made the series uncertain and then a two-year ban handed to ace all-rounder and Test and T20I captain Shakib Al Hasan by the ICC for violating anti-corruption law. Yet, the Tigers made a win possible and earned accolades from across the cricketing fraternity.

India’s loose bowling saw Bangladesh winning the game

Mahmudullah won the toss and sent the hosts top bat and banking on opener Shikhar Dhawan’s 41 and a couple of 20s from wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer, India reached 148 for 6 in 20 overs. Bangladesh then lost opener, Liton Das, early but India’s lackluster bowling towards the end when the likes of Khaleel Ahmed and Krunal Pandya conceded too many runs saw the visitors running away with the game to take 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

Mushfiqur was adjudged the man of the match. India played this game under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy since Virat Kohli has been rested. Rohit fell for only nine runs. The second match will be played in Rajkot on Thursday. Bangladesh will play two Tests after the conclusion of the T20I series.
