The much-awaited India-Pakistan game in the Asia Cup ended with bowlers dominating the game where no batsman cleared the ropes. India managed to restrict Pakistan to 83 after winning the toss. However, an inspired bowling spell from Mohammad Amir made it a tough chase for India. But Virat Kohli’s 49 along with a patient knock from Yuvraj Singh helped India to register a 5-wicket win. Here we look at all the stats and records recorded during the game.
0 – This is the first instance when the Indian team lost both their openers for a duck in the same game in T20Is. In overall, 9 instances have been recorded in T20Is where both openers of a team got out for ducks in the same game.
1 – Only once before this match India picked up oppositions’ first six wickets in first 10 overs in a T20I. It was vs Sri Lanka at Vizag earlier in this month.
2 – Jasprit Burmah became only the 2nd Indian to bowl more than 1 maiden in T20Is. Harbhajan Singh is the other. He bowled 2 maidens in a T20I vs England in 2012.
2 – Wickets taken by Mohammad Amir in India’s first over. This is only the 2nd instance of a Pakistani taking 2 wickets in first over of opposition’s innings. Zulfiqar Babar picked up 2 wickets vs Australia in 2014 World T20 at Dhaka.
3 – Number of times Nehra picked up a wicket for India in the opening over, the most by an Indian. Ravi Ashwin also picked up 3 wickets in opening over but he took 2 wickets in one game.
3 – This is the 3rd time India didn’t score a six in a T20I. However, this is the first time they have won out of the 3 occasions. Interestingly, this is also the 3rd time India didn’t concede a six in a T20I game. India ended up winning on 2 occasions.
4.96 – Hardik Pandya’s economy rate in the last 5 T20I matches he has played. He gave 67 runs in 13.3 overs in them. The 7 overs he bowled in his first 3 matches in Australia went for 74 runs at a rate of 11.14 per over.
6 – Only the 6th completed T20I match which didn’t record even one six.
6.66 – Average runs scored for every wicket for first 3 wickets in the game. This is the 5th lowest average for first 3 wickets in a T20I and 2nd lowest in a match between full member nations.

8 – Runs scored by India for first 3 wickets in this game. These are the lowest they scored for first 3 wickets in a T20I. Previous lowest was 17 vs Australia at Bridgetown in 2010 World T20.
8 – Runs conceded by Hardik Pandya in the game. These are the joint fewest runs conceded by an Indian in T20Is who picked up a 3-wicket haul. Ravi Ashwin conceded 8 runs during his 4-wicket haul vs Sri Lanka earlier this month.
9 – Jasprit Bumrah became only the 9th player to bowl 2 maidens in mandatory powerplay overs of a T20I.
11 – Runs scored by openers in the match. These are the joint 3rd lowest in a T20I and the joint highest in a T20I including full-member nation.
21 – Runs conceded by Pakistan in the powerplay (1st 6 overs). Out of the 9 instances of teams scoring 21 or lesser in power play during a chase in T20Is, 5 instances have come against Pakistan.
24 – India’s lowest yielding powerplay in T20Is before this game was 24 runs vs Australia in World T20 2010 at Bridgetown.
68 – Partnership between Virat Kohli and Yuvraj Singh is now the highest stand for 4th wicket coming after losing first 3 wickets under 10. Mahmudullah and Tamim Iqbal’s stand of 62 runs is only other fifty plus stand recorded in T20Is after the loss of first 3 wickets inside 10 runs.
83 – This was Pakistan’s 3rd lowest total in T20Is. This is their lowest total vs India in international cricket and the only 2nd time they have been dismissed under 100 against their arch rivals.
93 – Balls taken by India to chase down the target. These are the 2nd most taken for a sub-100 target by a full member nation in T20Is.
96.07 – Virat Kohli’s strike rate of 96.07 in the innings is the 2nd lowest for a 40+ score by an Indian. Gautam Gambhir’s strike rate of 93.33 during his knock of 56* vs Australia at Melbourne in 2012 is the lowest.
101 – MS Dhoni became the 2nd player after Kamran Akmal to take 100 catches as keeper in Twenty20 format. Kamran has taken 102 catches in the format while Dhoni has 101.
151 – MS Dhoni completed 150 dismissals as keeper in Twenty20 format, becoming the 2nd player to do so after Kamran Akmal (179).
164 – This was MS Dhoni’s 164th win in international cricket as captain. Only Ricky Ponting with 220 wins has more than Dhoni.
