India’s tour of Australia began with a thumping 66-run defeat in the first game of the 3-match ODI series. The Sydney cricket ground will be hosting the 2nd ODI as well where India needs to win at any cost to keep themselves alive in the series. India’s bowling went pale through the first ODI letting the home team post a huge total. The batsmen did a fine job for India to finish with 308/8 despite they lost early wickets while showing extra aggression in the first 15 overs of the chase.

Here are all the key stats and numbers ahead of the crucial 2nd ODI game to be played at the SCG:

0 – India failed to pick even one wicket during the first powerplay (1-10) in any of the last four ODI matches. In fact, India has picked only three wickets during the first ten overs in the seven ODIs they played in 2020.


2 – Jasprit Bumrah has picked up only two wickets in the ODI format across seven matches in 2020. One of them was the dismissal of Adam Zampa during the home series at the start of the year while another wicket was of Aaron Finch on Friday. Bumrah is currently averaging 180 with the ball and has a strike rate of 198.5.

4 – India is currently on a losing streak of four matches in the ODI format which is their biggest under Virat Kohli’s captaincy and also their longest losing streak in ODIs since losing five in a row during the 2015-16 season. India, in fact, has lost each of their last six matches in International cricket. This is now the longest losing streak for India in Internationals since losing seven successive games in the 2002-03 season.


4 – Aaron Finch and David Warner have shared four 150+ stands in the ODI format against India including two in 2020. These are the most number of 150+ partnerships in ODI cricket for any pair against an opposition.


6 – Each of the last six ODI matches played at the Sydney Cricket ground have been won by the teams batting first. In those six ODIs, the sides batting first ended up scoring 300+ on four instances.


84.54David Warner has a batting average of 84.54 in International cricket at the Sydney Cricket ground since the start of 2016. Across 14 International innings in these five years, Warner scored 930 runs with help of five hundreds and four fifties. Davey has two tons and two fifties across six ODI innings during this period at the SCG.


111.16 – Virat Kohli has a batting average of 111.16 during the 2nd match of a bilateral ODI series against Australia. Across seven such games, Kohli scored 667 runs with help of four hundreds and three fifties. Kohli had scores of 100*, 59, 104 and 78 in the 2nd game of an ODI series against the Aussies whenever India lost the first match of the series.

  


122.36 – Partnership average in 2020 against India for the first wicket in the ODI format reads 122.36. India has conceded three centuries stands and two fifty-run partnership in seven ODI matches they played in 2020.
