Australia and Pakistan lock horns in the sixth match of the Women’s World Cup on March 8, 2022, at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui. Both teams have had a different start to their World Cup campaign as Australia defeated their arch-rivals England in the third match by 12 runs in Hamilton while Pakistan faced an embarrassing 107-run defeat from their arch-rivals India in the fourth match at the Bay Oval. The team from down under have dominated these tournaments in the past as they have lifted the elusive trophy a massive six times with Pakistan not even reaching the semi-final in any of the World Cups.

Head to Head record:

Both teams have contested in 12 ODIs so far and it’s all Australia. The Women in Green have suffered losses in all the 12 ODI matches starting from the year 1997. Australia have a 100 percent record over Pakistan in the 50-over format. In World Cup events, both have met each other in four games and Aussies won all four encounters in 1997, 2009, 2013, and 2017 respectively.

Australian skipper Meg Lanning leads the batting chart with the most runs scored in matches between these two sides which is 264. In eight ODI games, Lanning has struck one century and one fifty with an average of 33.00 and the highest score of 124. In terms of wickets, Pakistan’s right-arm off-break bowler Sana Mir has taken the most wickets which are 20. Australia’s Sarah Coyte and Australia’s Jess Jonassen are joint-second with 11 scalps apiece.

Last World Cup meeting:

Both sides last met in a World Cup clash was in the 15th match of the 2017 World Cup on July 5 in Leicester, England. Australia batted first and posted 290/8 in 50 overs courtesy of half-centuries from Ellyse Perry, Elyse Villani, and Alyssa Healy with Sana Mir snaring three wickets. Mir was also the top-scorer for Pakistan with 45 runs as Kristen Beams and Ashleigh Gardner took three wickets each to bundle out Pakistan for just 131 runs. The Aussies eventually won the game by 159 runs in a one-sided affair.
