The much-awaited India Australia Test series has kicked off with the Day-Night Test being played as the series opener. India registered some brilliant performances during their tour last tour Down Under. It would be expected of them to replicate the same heroics to clinch the limelight again. In the same light of events, many cricket experts and commentators around the world have put forth their opinions about the same series, and Australian great Ricky Ponting is the latest addition.

Former legendary Australian skipper, Ponting, came with a Tweet that had his picture with former Indian phenomenal batsman Sunil Gavaskar. And, in the same tweet, Ponting predicted the results of the Test series. Firstly, he added that he is looking forward to doing commentary alongside Sunil Gavaskar and predicted the Test series result as 2-1 in Australia’s favour.

His Tweet read- “Can’t wait to commentate alongside this man for the first time, and excited to be back at a ground with fans for the first time in 10 months. Predicting 2-1 Australia. #AUSvIND.”

Well, it would be a thing to watch as to which nation will hog the limelight in the high profile event. Winning the toss in the first pink-ball Test, Virat Kohli and company decided to walk down the field with willows in hand first. The Australian bowling set up started to dominate on the very first day itself where Prithvi Shaw was sent back by Mitchell Starc on batter’s second ball only.

While Mayank Agarwal started to settle on the crease with Cheteshwar Pujara, he got victimised by Pat Cummins’ peach of a delivery. While India is up against Australia in day one’s third session, skipper Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane are moving in fine line to take the team long. Kohli has already scored a half-century and would be keen on converting it to a full-fledged ton.

India’s Test deputy Ajinkya Rahane would also try his best to gain the rhythm as he will have to sport skipper’s hat in absence of Virat Kohli from the second Test onwards.
