After an innings victory in the one-off Test match, Bangladesh will now be hosting Zimbabwe in the 3-match ODI series starting on Sunday. Zimbabwe hasn’t tasted success against a major ODI team in nearly two years. Bangladesh, on the other hand, have been too good at home and in familiar conditions over the last 5-6 years in ODI format. They have registered series wins against the likes of Pakistan, India and South Africa during this period. This series against Zimbabwe will be Bangladesh’s first ODI series at home since the last year’s ODI CWC in England.

All the key stats and numbers ahead of the 3-match ODI series between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe:

2/23 – Zimbabwe won only two of their last 23 matches they played on Bangladesh soil – vs Sri Lanka by 5 wickets in 2018 and vs Bangladesh by 9 runs in 2010; both in Dhaka. Zimbabwe are currently on a 16-match losing streak in ODI cricket against Bangladesh in Bangladesh.


5 – Both Bangladesh and Zimbabwe lost each of their last five matches in the ODI format. Bangladesh lost their last two matches of the 2019 CWC against India and Pakistan respectively and suffered a 0-3 series defeat in Sri Lanka last year. Zimbabwe, on the other hand, lost an ODI series against the Netherlands to 0-2 and against Ireland by 0-3 margin last year.


13 – Bangladesh won each of the 13 ODIs they played against Zimbabwe since the start of 2014. The last instance of Zimbabwe defeating Bangladesh in an ODI was way back in the 2013 home series.


91 – Chris Mpofu has picked up 91 wickets in his 83-match ODI career. He needs only nine more wickets to become the 6th player with 100+ ODI wickets for Zimbabwe.


1377 – Brendan Taylor has scored 1377 runs in ODI cricket against Zimbabwe; the 2nd most by any player in the ODI matches between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe. Only Shakib Al Hasan (1404) scored more runs in BAN-ZIM ODI matches. Tamim Iqbal (1374) and Mushfiqur Rahim (1286) are next on the list.


2944Mushfiqur Rahim needs 56 runs to become the 2nd player after Tamim Iqbal (3260) to aggregate 3000 ODI runs in Bangladesh. Rahim (5921) is also 79 runs away from becoming the 2nd player with 6000 runs on Bangladesh soil in International cricket after Tamim Iqbal (6205).


3994 – Mahmudullah aggregated 3994 runs in his ODI career thus far. He needs six more runs to become the 4th player from Bangladesh with 4000 ODI runs.


6892 – Tamim Iqbal needs 108 more runs to complete 7000 runs in the ODI format. He will be the first player from Bangladesh to reach 7000 ODI runs. Tamim is also 43 runs away from completing 13000 International runs for Bangladesh. Tamim has aggregated 13014 runs in his International career which including 57 runs for ICC World XI.
