The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) recently announced the 15-member Test squad versus the Windies. The two-match affair will get underway from July 4 at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound in Antigua. The second match will be played from July 12 in Jamaica. Prior to that, they will play a practice game in Antigua in order to get prepared for the series.

One newcomer drafted in

The squad will be captained by Shakib Al Hasan, who played his last contest in Whites back in September 2017. Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim, and Mahmudullah are the other experienced players in the lineup. Tamim wasn’t quite at his very best versus Afghanistan in Dehradun and will be keen to hit his straps at the earliest. Imrul Kayes and Mominul Haque, who is also a part-time keeper, are also expected to play their part.

Liton Das is the other specialist keeper in the lineup. Abu Jayed, the right-arm fast-bowler, is the new entrant into the squad. Nazmul Hossain, Shafiul Islam, Kamrul Islam Rabbi and Rubel Hossain are rest of the speedsters. Mehedy Hasan and Taijul Islam are the specialist spinners.

The most glaring aspect comes in the form of Mustafizur Rahman’s exclusion from the team. The left-arm pacer triggered an injury in his left toe and couldn’t take part in the second half of this season’s IPL. He also failed to get back in shape for the Afghanistan-series.

“Barring a miracle he is unlikely to be fit before the second Test, so we left him out from the squad,” Minhajul Abedin, the Chief Selector of the BCB was quoted as saying in cricket.com.au on Monday. Mustafizur has picked 26 wickets in 10 Tests thus far in his career.

Here is the full squad
