BCCI won’t terminate CSK and RR, two new teams to be introduced from IPL 9: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in its working committee meeting was expected to take a decision on the two controversial Indian Premier League (IPL) teams Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR). What has come out after the working committee meeting is that the Board has decided not to terminate both the franchises CSK and RR and they will remain suspended to serve the term awarded by the court; while introducing two new teams to replace them in the upcoming season.
BCCI is planning to rope in a couple of new franchises to fill in and complete the 8 teams for the 2016 and 2017 seasons. As per the decision of the Supreme Court of India the two teams have been banned from participating in the league for the next two years. Following 2018 the structure of the IPL will change from an 8 team tournament to one that has 10 participating teams.
There has been no revelation about the two new franchises or what will be the fate of the players who are a part of the suspended franchises. A lot remains to be seen as we await an official word and statement from the Board.
While it is speculated that the players will be put out in the auction and will be available to be picked by the two new teams and any of the already existing ones.
