Bengal Tigers are ready to roll in T10 Cricket League

A league in the 10-over format of cricket is all set to begin next month at the Sharjah International Cricket Stadium in the United Arab Emirates, where six teams will fight to win the coveted T10 Cricket League trophy. They boast of some of the retired legends and current greats of the game. Under the leadership of ICC Champions Trophy-winning skipper Sarfraz Ahmed, the Bengal Tigers are all set to roar aloud.

The franchise has managed to get the signatures of some renowned cricketers, like Windian mystery spinner Sunil Narine, Bangladeshi pace sensation Mustafizur Rahman and veteran Windian all-rounder Darren Sammy. The team unveiled their jersey at an event held at the Danube Properties building, where skipper Sarfraz, as well as, the owners Anis Sajan, the managing director of Danube Group and Neelesh Bhatnagar, owner of NB Ventures were present for the draft.

The catchy anthem comprises of the tagline of the team “We are Bengal Tigers” sung in three languages- Hindi, English and Bengali. Speaking to Gulf News about the team, co-owner Anis Sajan said: “We owe a lot to our captain Sarfraz for guiding us the right way to pick a good team. He sat with us for hours during the last three days, constantly discussing the various combinations that can make a winning team. Sarfraz deserves all the applause for this team combination.”

Neelesh Bhatnagar also heaped praises on the Pakistani skipper. “For over five years I have seen the hunger and passion in Sarfraz for success not only as captain of Pakistan but also as skipper of Quetta Gladiators and I am sure there cannot be a better choice than Sarfraz as skipper for the Bengal team,” he said.

Best bowling attack in the tournament

When a bowling unit boasts of some of the hottest prospects in the game like Narine and ‘Fizz’, it is bound to give a tough competition to any other bowling line-up, no matter how strong it may be. Hence, Sarfraz feels he has got the best bowling attack in the tournament. He also claimed that he has got 90% of the players he wanted.

“We have got 90 per cent of the players that we planned to have in the team. It is a balanced side and probably the best bowling attacks in the tournament with Sunil Narine and Mustafizur Rahman,” Sarfraz said. Speaking about the jersey, he stated: “I like the colour of the jersey as I feel it represents passion, pride and glory.”
