There is always a huge responsibility on the shoulders of an overseas spinner in the squad while playing in India. Wrist spinners are always effective and difficult to score runs off on any surface. Rashid was definitely the main man for England on the course of 5 matches.

He started well by picking up 7 wickets in the Rajkot Test. But he was made to work hard for wickets by the Indian batsmen in the matches to come. He picked up 23 wickets in 5 matches and was the leading wicket-taker for England and the third overall behind Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja.

#10 Trent Boult

Fast bowlers always find it difficult to bowl on the Indian decks as there is hardly any assistance to them and the pitches are conducive to spin more often than not. The onus is always on the spinners but a Kiwi bowler that stood out against all odds is Trent Boult.

He is the only New Zealand player to make it to the best XI simply because of his commitment each time he came on to bowl. He was the leading wicket-taker for New Zealand in the series with 10 wickets in 3 Tests. The series was highly dominated by India but Boult was one bowler who kept the batsmen on their toes.

#11 Josh Hazlewood

The young fast bowler is being compared massively with the legendary pacer Glenn Mcgrath due to his control in bowling. He had played most of his matches in his own backyard where pitches offer bounce and it was still to be seen how he performs on the unresponsive surfaces of India.

Hazlewood did what he does best and that is kept bowling consistent lines and lengths and didn’t let the batsmen score freely. He picked up 9 wickets in 4 matches that included a six-wicket haul in Bangalore. He bowled his heart out and the intensity did not die even in the last over that he bowled on the tour.
