#6 Jonny Bairstow

The wicket-keeper batsman put a prize on his wicket each time he walked out to bat and didn’t throw it away easily. He showed the technique to play against the spinners and was quite effective batting at number 7 earlier and was promoted at 5 later in the series.

He scored 352 runs in 9 innings at an average of 44. The top scores of his included 53 in Vizag, 89 in Mohali, 51 in Mumbai and 49 in Chennai. He got starts on almost every occasion but failed to make it a big one. Yet he was a vital member of the squad and also his keeping skills will be boosted after the India tour.

The all-rounder made a huge mark on the Indian cricket after his excellent fight throughout the series. As a result, he was rewarded with a whopping bid of INR 14 crore in the player auction of the Indian Premier League when the Rising Pune Supergiant bagged him.

In the 10 innings of the series, he scored 345 runs at an average of 38.33 that included a half-century. With the ball, he bagged 8 wickets but it was the intensity that he brought either while batting or bowling. He is one of those cricketers who wear their hearts on their sleeves and give their 100 percent each time.

The off-spinner has been a vital member for the Australian side for a number of years. But his poor run in the subcontinent prior to the India tour had put a lot of question marks on him. But the way he bowled on the surfaces and troubled the skilled Indian batsmen was remarkable.

He picked up a total of 19 wickets in 4 matches with 2 fifers and a four-wicket haul. He also marked the best figures in the series when he grabbed 8 wickets for 50 runs in the first innings in Bangalore. The effort that he put to produce turn and the extra bounce was truly commendable and at one stage he bowled better than the Indian spinners.
