Ever since Ravi Shastri has been appointed the head coach of Team India, he has stressed the fact that this group has the potential to become the best travelling side in the world. Moreover, when they won the third Test at Trent Bridge handsomely, it was being said that the visitors will make a comeback and level the series. But as it turned out, Virat Kohli’s men lost the battle in the fourth Test and also the series with it with one more game to go. Virender Sehwag, after the loss, has taken a dig on Shastri’s comments of being the best team overseas.

The character of the team was going to be tested this year as they were scheduled to tour SENA countries and were expected to better their performances in each country. While they failed to conquer South Africa, the team hit back in the final Test to raise hopes ahead of the England tour. But even here, there were glimpses of brilliance and the series is already gone. With Australia series still remaining and only two wins in seven overseas Tests this year, can this team be termed as the best travelling team?

Bat has to do the talking

Well, Virender Sehwag doesn’t believe so and wants the performance on the ground to do the talking. He was of the opinion that no matter how much you talk about the intent and passion in the dressing room, the players should make the difference in the middle which isn’t happening at the moment.

“Best travelling teams are made by performances on the ground and not by sitting in the dressing rooms and talking about it. One can talk whatever they want to talk about but unless the bat does the talking, they can never become the best travelling team,” Sehwag said while speaking to India TV.

Indian batsmen have totally disappointed in this series apart from Virat Kohli when the bowlers have continuously worked hard and picked 20 wickets of the opposition. They failed to chase 194 at Edgbaston and then couldn’t gun down the total of 245 in Southampton despite being capable of doing it.
