Chaminda Bandara replaces Chameera in the Sri Lankan squad

Sri Lanka had lost the first two test matches against England in England. Dushmantha Chameera, due to an injury, hasn’t been included in the playing eleven in the second test match and Suranga Lakmal played in his position and was quite impressive.

Dushmantha Chameera has been ruled out of the remainder of the England tour due to lower back injury and the uncapped player Chaminda Bandara has been added to the Sri Lankan squad as the replacement.

Bandara is a left-arm medium fast bowler, who has played 51 first class matches and picked up 141 wickets at an average of 29.85. He had also scored a half-century in first-class cricket. Kusal Perera has also cleared after being charged with failing a drug test. Both of them will travel to England for the Lord’s Test.

Sri Lanka will also look forward to pacer Shaminda Eranga for the third test, who was reported for a suspect bowling action by the International Cricket Council (ICC) during the second test. Eranga will have to undergo a test at the Loughborough university on June 6. If the test proves that the initial report that his action is illegal, then he will be barred from bowling, otherwise, he will be featuring in the third test match.

Sri Lanka Cricket is having a tough time after the retirement of their key players like Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene. Tillakaratne Dilshan has also retired from the longer format of the game. Ahead of the series, their pace bowling spearhead Dhammika Prasad pulls out due to injury, and now the issue with the bowling action of Shaminda Eranga.

The third test at the Lord’s will commence from 9th June.
