Chris Martin was one of those rare players in the history who didn’t become famous for his bowling skill instead known for his batting and ducks, especially in Test cricket. Martin headed the New Zealand’s pace attack for over a decade between 2000 and 2013. He featured in 71 Test matches and bagged 233 wickets at a moderate average of 33.81 delivering whenever his team needed. The right-hander was permitted to the bottom position for his consistency at bagging ducks and less contribution with the bat.

4 – Chris Martin is one of the four players with 100 wickets in Test history who have more wickets than the runs scored in a career. Martin picked up 233 wickets but managed to score only 123 runs in the 71 Tests while Bhagwath Chandrasekhar took 242 wickets and scored 167 in the 58 Test matches he played. Pragyan Ojha and Bruce Reid took 113 wickets apiece and scored 89 and 93 runs respectively.
7 – Number of times Chris Martin has bagged ducks in both the innings of a Test match. No other player has bagged more than four pairs in Test cricket till date.
9 – Chris Martin bagged nine golden ducks in his Test career which are the joint 4th most for any player till date. He has two diamond ducks as well in this format i.e. a duck without facing a ball which are the most for any player.
36 – Martin got out for a duck on 36 occasions in the 104 Test innings. These are the 2nd most number of ducks for a player in this format till date. Courtney Walsh bagged 43 Test ducks in his career.
38 – Chris Martin has a total of 38 ducks in his International cricket including two ducks in the ODI format. Only Daniel Vettori (44 ducks) has bagged more ducks for New Zealand across formats.
100 – Number of times Martin batted at No.11 in Test cricket. He is one of the four players in Test history to bat 100 and more innings at this position. Glenn McGrath holds the record with 128 innings at No.11 while Walsh and James Anderson batted 122 and 106 times respectively.
104 – Innings Martin batted in his Test career without hitting a six. Only Derek Underwood (116), Lance Gibbs (109) and Ishant Sharma (106) batted more Test innings than Martin without hitting a six.
233 – Number of wickets for Chris Martin bagged in his Test cricket for New Zealand. Only Sir Richard Hadlee (431) and Daniel Vettori (361) have taken more wickets than Martin in this format for the Kiwis.
