CPL 2020: Match 27, Trinbago Knight Riders vs St Lucia Zouks – TKR’s unbeaten streak, Pollard's record, Fletcher’s milestones and more stats

The Trinbago Knight Riders extended their winning streak in this season to nine following an all-round effort from their skipper Kieron Pollard against the St Lucia Zouks. Contributions from Darren Bravo (50), Pollard (42 off 21) and Tim Seifert (33) helped the home team to finish on 175/5 in their 20 overs. The St Lucia team fancied their chances after a good start but Pollard picked the wickets of Mark Deyal (40), Andre Fletcher (42) and Mohammad Nabi (17) in three successive overs. The St Lucia team ended up with only 152/7 and lost the game by 23 runs.

TKR’s unbeaten streak against St Lucia:

10 – The Trinidad franchise has not lost even one match of their last 10 CPL matches they played against the St Lucia franchise. The Zouks have been defeated nine times in those ten games while the last year’s meeting ended in a washout. Overall, the 23-run win on Saturday morning was Trinbago’s 12th CPL win over St Lucia; the most number of victories for any team against an opponent in the CPL.

Pollard @ 50:

2 – Kieron Pollard became only the 2nd player in the history of Caribbean Premier League to complete the double of 1000+ runs and 50+ wickets. Andre Russell reached this all-round double during the 2019 edition. Pollard picked up his 50th CPL wicket with the second of his three wickets during Saturday’s match. He is the 11th player to claim as many as 50 wickets in the league.

Fletcher’s milestones:

2041 – Andre Fletcher completed 2000 runs in CPL with the first of the 42 runs he scored on Saturday. He is only the 4th player in the history of CPL to aggregate 2000 runs and the first to do so for a single team.

Fletcher has represented the St Lucia franchise in all the editions of the CPL. Among the players with 1000+ CPL runs, Fletcher is the only batsman to not bag a duck.

50 – Andre Fletcher (39 catches; 11 stumpings) became only the 3rd wicketkeeper with 50+ dismissals in the CPL history. Denesh Ramdin (48 catches; 17 stumpings) and Nicholas Pooran (46 catches; 9 stumpings) are the other two keepers to have completed the milestone.

Pollard goes past Gayle; Sammy goes past Pollard:

36 – Number of matches Daren Sammy has lost as captain in the CPL; the most number of losses for a captain in the league history. Sammy went past Pollard’s tally of 35 losses during the Saturday’s match also in the match against TKR led by Pollard himself.

40 – The Saturday’s win was Kieron Pollard’s 40th victory as captain in the CPL which are the 2nd most CPL wins for a captain behind Dwayne Bravo’s 43 victories. Pollard went past Chris Gayle’s tall of 40 wins with a 23-run victory against St Lucia.

A big season for Kuggeleijn:

14 – The 14 wickets by Scott Kuggeleijn in this CPL are the most number of wickets picked by a St Lucia franchise player in a CPL season. The New Zealander went past the 13 wickets picked by Jerome Taylor and Delorn Johnson apiece during the 2016 edition.
