Saturday’s second encounter will put Guyana Amazon Warriors in front of the Jamaica Tallawahs at the Brian Lara Cricket Stadium in Trinidad. Both the teams have been on and off and have registered one victory and one defeat in the two matches played hitherto. The Warriors started the proceedings by a 4-wicket loss at this venue against the Trinbago Knight Riders in the opening clash of the tournament.

However, they came back strongly and scripted a convincing victory against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots courtesy the inspiring and match-winning efforts of Shimron Hetmyer with the bat and Keemo Paul with the ball. The Jamaica Tallawahs, on the other side, slammed St Lucia Zouks by 5 wickets in their first clash of the tournament before losing to the Knight Riders in the second match after an unimpressive and rather underwhelming show with the bat.

The Rovmann Powell-led eleven managed to post a meager 135 for the loss of 8 wickets and the Knight Riders chased the target with 11 balls to spare and 7 wickets in hand. The striking defeat has spoiled their net run rate and they would want to win by a margin to recover themselves.

Playing combination

Guyana Amazon Warriors

Shimron Hetmyer is leading the charts with 134 runs and consecutive half-centuries. However, openers Brandon King and Chandrapaul Hemraj have not been able to fire at the start. The highly experienced Kiwi batsman Ross Taylor looked fluent in the first match though he was dismissed cheaply in the last match.

Nicholas Pooran is known for his hard-hitting with the bat and should look to perform parallel to his reputation. Sherfane Rutherford has had two disappointing outings. Skipper Chris Green has been neither amongst the runs nor in the wickets and needs to pull his socks up as both an all-rounder and the leader of the team.

Keemo Paul was bang on target and bagged a 4-wicket haul in the last match giving just 19 runs. Naveen-ul-Haq, who had an outstanding outing in the first match, was expensive and wicket-less in the last match much like Romario Shepherd. Imran Tahir has taken 4 wickets in 2 matches and made a good comeback in the last game after he went for runs in the first match.

Predicted XI- Brandon King, Chandrapaul Hemraj, Shimron Hetmyer, Ross Taylor, Nicholas Pooran (WK), Sherfane Rutherford, Keemo Paul, Chris Green (C), Romario Shepherd, Naveen-ul-Haq, Imran Tahir.

Bench: Odean Smith, Anthony Bramble, Kevin Sinclair, Jessy Singh, Ashmead Nedd, Kissoodath Magram.

Jamaica Tallawahs

Opener Chadwick Walton and youngster Nicholas Kirton have disappointed thoroughly in two matches and the Tallawahs might bring in Jermaine Blackwood to replace Kirton. Glenn Phillips has been the pick with scores of 42 and 58 in two games.

Skipper Powell played a decent hand in the first match but perished in a flash in the last. In an extremely shocking turn of events, Andre Russell has misfired twice and has been striking below 100. He has not impressed with the ball either. Asif Ali has been striking well and will look to continue. Carlos Brathwaite had forgettable last match as he leaked runs with the ball and played 9 balls for a solitary run with the bat.

Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Sandip Lamichhane have been economical in both the matches and been taking wickets in tandem. Veerasammy Permaul took a couple of wickets in the first match but did not play the last match. However, Tallawahs might also want to try off-spinner Ramaal Lewis. Fidel Edwards will be seen performing his role with the ball.

Predicted XI- Chadwick Walton (WK), Glenn Philips, Jermaine Blackwood/Nicholas Kirton, Rovman Powell (C), Andre Russell, Asif Ali, Carlos Brathwaite, Mujeeb ur Rahman, Sandeep Lamichchane, Ramaal Lewis /Veerasammy Permaul, Fidel Edwards.

Bench: Ramaal Lewis/Oshane Thomas, Nkrumah Bonner, Jermaine Blackwood, Preston McSween, Ryan Persaud.
