Pakistan skipper Babar Azam had a great outing with the bat in the three-match ODI series against the Netherlands but in the post-match conference, he mistakenly labeled the Netherlands bowlers as Scotland bowlers which viral on the internet. Azam reached his third half-century of the series with a 91-run knock in the third ODI in difficult circumstances and helped his side to post a decent score with wickets falling around him on regular occasions.

Pakistan was bundled up for 206 after opting to bat first and it looked like the home side Netherlands would pick up a historic win against the Men in Green. However, Naseem Shah and Mohammad Wasim Jr caused destruction with the ball picking up nine wickets combinedly and winning the game for the visitors by just nine runs.

Early on the ball wasn’t coming on well, we were short in the first innings: Babar Azam

Azam mentioned that Pakistan had to try out their bench strength, having secured the series already and noted about the pace of the wicket was quite slow. He referred to the Netherlands bowlers as Scotland bowlers while praising them and was delighted with his team’s performances. He hailed Naseem Shah, Wasim Jr, and Dahani for putting up a strong performance with the ball.

“We tried our bench strength. Early on, the ball wasn’t coming on well. We were short in the first innings. But credit to the Scotland bowlers who bowled very well,” Azam told in the post-match conference.

“We are happy as a team. All credit to boys. They bowled very well in the second innings. He’s (Naseem) bowling very well with the new ball and in the death overs. Wasim also bowling well. And Dahani,” he added

Pakistan will next be up against the Indian side in the Asia Cup 2022 Group A fixture on August 28 at the Dubai International stadium and it is expected to be a mouth-watering contest given the history between the two nations.
