Indian Premier League has witnessed many T20 stars from around the world step into the cricket field and make the marquee tournament their own. Certain players have set the IPL arena on fire in their debut season itself. For instance, Ben Stokes entered the T20 carnival in 2017 and left the world in awe with his majestic performances.
As fans gear up for the 16th edition of the cash-rich league, there are certain IPL debutants who have the potential to shine. These cricketers have shown their might on the cricket field time and again and a lot of eyeballs will be glued on them in the forthcoming season of the T20 extravaganza.
Here are the top five debutants to watch out for in IPL 2023
5. Mukesh Kumar
Mukesh Kumar has been a proven performer in the Indian domestic circuit. First-class cricket has been his stronger suit where the 29-year-old has picked up 134 wickets in 35 matches at an average of 21.23. He has weaved his magic in the shortest format (T20) as well, taking 25 scalps in 23 matches at an economy of 7.20.
Mukesh owned the 2021-22 season of the Ranji Trophy with his sensational performances. He bagged 20 wickets in five matches at an economy of 24.75. The Bengal pacer also showed his class in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022, picking up nine scalps in six games at an economy of 4.91.
Courtesy of his consistent showings in the domestic arena, Mukesh broke into the Indian white-ball set-up. Delhi Capitals liked what they saw in the ace pacer and picked him at the IPL 2023 auction at a sum of INR 5.5 crore. The Gopalganj-born would be eager to make a mark in the 16th IPL edition with his bowling displays.
