Gujarat Titans (GT) will be up against Delhi Capitals (DC) in Match 40 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The two are scheduled to clash at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Wednesday, April 24. The two teams are going head-to-head for the second time this season and GT will be looking to avenge the six-wicket defeat they suffered last week.
The last time the two teams met, Shubman Gill and Co. were thrashed at home (Ahmedabad) as they were bundled out for just 89 runs in 17.3 overs. However, in their next match against Punjab Kings (PBKS), they bounced back with a three-wicket win and are currently sixth in the points table with eight points.
DC, on the other hand, suffered a 67-run annihilation against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in their last match and are currently eighth in the table with six points. Titans were impressive in their previous game against PBKS, especially in their bowling department. Unlike previous seasons they lack consistency and need to put in their best in the upcoming matches to take the pride of three consecutive playoff appearances.

Here's the probable playing XI for GT versus DC IPL 2024 clash:
Openers: Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Shubman Gill (c)
The opening pair has been a concern for GT since the start of the tournament. Shubman Gill stood firm but the captain did not get proper support from the other side. They've tried multiple opening combos so far, but none of them match Gill.
Veteran keeper-batter Wriddhiman Saha was brought back in the last two matches but failed to produce the desired results. The franchise is likely to continue with the same openers, but their hope will primarily be on their skipper. Gill has been in great touch with 298 runs from eight matches so far.

Middle-order: Abhinav Manohar and David Miller
GT’s middle order is also a concern as some key players fail to perform at their best. David Miller is known for his aggressive batting but did not perform well this season and had to sit out a few matches for the same reason. However, he is unstoppable when on song and the franchise will keep faith in such a clutch player who can single-handedly change fortunes.
Abhinav Manohar did not get a good run this season, but considering Shahrukh Khan's failure, he will likely feature in the upcoming match. Manohar has shown his power-hitting skills in previous seasons which is exactly what GT need in the latter stages of the game.

All-rounders: Azmatullah Omarzai, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan
Azmatullah Omarzai bowled decently in the last match against PBKS, conceding an economy of 6.50. The Afghanistan all-rounder will look to contribute in both departments in the upcoming matches to cement his place in the XI. GT did not explore much of Rahul Tewatia's bowling skills, but they made good use of the southpaw's finishing prowess.
His 18-ball 36 was crucial in the win against Punjab. He has been playing such brief cameos and will aim to make many more in the remainder of the series. Rashid Khan is one person who can turn the tide in his team's favour. Known for his big hitting in the lower-middle order, the Afghan all-rounder's primary strength is bamboozling opposition batters with mystery spin deliveries.
Bowlers: Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore, Noor Ahmad, Sandeep Warrier, Mohit Sharma
R Sai Kishore was adjudged Player of the Match against PBKS for his remarkable four-over spell. The left-handed orthodox bowler took four wickets at an economy of 8.0 to help restrict Punjab to below 145 in the first innings. Afghanistan spinner Noor Ahmed was also impressive in the last match, picking up two wickets at an economy of 5.
Sandeep Warrier and Mohit Sharma will handle the pace bowling duties for GT. The Tamil Nadu cricketer had a worst outing in the last match, conceding 21 runs in an over. Mohit Sharma is their key bowler, especially at the death, but the right-arm pacer needs to control the runs flowing for an effective outing.
