The IPL 2025 has come to the business end, with just a few matches left in the league stage to head into the Playoffs. So far, there have been some brilliant performances from individuals who have entertained the fans with their batting and bowling performances. Batters have been able to hit a lot of boundaries due to the evolution of batting, despite the pitches not being as easy to bat on.

What 2024 was an outlier season due to the nature of the pitches, the pitches this season needed many batters' time to get set. In the process, batters played a lot of dot balls, which affected the eventual total in some cases. Some batters were able to compensate for them by hitting a lot of boundaries. In this article, CricTracker looks at the batters with most dot balls for each team.

Team-wise batters with most dot balls so far in IPL 2025

Travis Head scored 281 runs in 10 innings for SRH in the season, as the 2024 finalists became the third team to be eliminated from the tournament. He hit 41 fours and 9 sixes, accounting for 228 runs just through boundaries. Head played a total of 73 dot balls at a rate of 7.3 per innings. The Australia international's number of dot balls is the least for a batter from a team, as batters with the most dot balls from other teams have a count of over 90.

Prabhsimran Singh has played 91 dot balls in 13 innings at a rate of 7 dot balls per match, which is good for an opener. He has had his best season with the bat, managing to score 508 runs in 13 innings at an average of 42.33 and a strike rate of 172.20. Despite playing the most number of dot balls for the Kings, Singh has compensated by hitting a lot of boundaries, and is also the highest run-getter for the side.

Ryan Rickelton - Mumbai Indians (92 dots)

Ryan Rickleton was good for the Mumbai Indians after not doing good in the first five matches. The wicketkeeper-batter played 92 dot balls in 12 innings at a rate of 7.67 dot balls per match. He hit 42 fours and 15 sixes, which helped MI score well at the top. Due to the national duties and to prepare for the WTC Final, Rickelton opted himself out of the remainder of the IPL 2025, and MI might miss him in the Playoffs.

Shivam Dube - Chennai Super Kings (93 dots)

Shivam Dube has been surprisingly the batter to have played the most number of dot balls for CSK, especially given how aggressive he was in the last couple of seasons. The Southpaw has played 93 dot balls in 13 innings at a rate of 7.15. He has 340 runs in 13 innings at an average of 34.00 and a strike rate of 129.77, including 22 fours and 19 sixes in the season, so far. His strike-rate has been concerning this season, given the position he bats in.

Virat Kohli - Royal Challengers Bengaluru (94 dots)

Virat Kohli has had one of the best IPL seasons of his career in 2025. When needed to accelerate, Virat has been aggressive at the top. But when he had to anchor the innings, Kohli occupied the crease and played many dot balls in the process. As a result, the right-handed batter has 94 dot balls in 11 innings at a rate of 8.54, due to the number of innings he had to anchor.

KL Rahul - Delhi Capitals (95 dots)

KL Rahul has had the best season with the bat in the IPL since his terrific IPL 2018. Despite the massive improvement, the right-handed batter has still played many dot balls in the ongoing season. With 95 dot balls in 11 innings at a rate of 8.63, Rahul has the most dot balls for the Delhi Capitals. He has, however, been good with the bat, helping the Capitals win many of their matches.

Ajinkya Rahane - Kolkata Knight Riders (96 dots)

Ajinkya Rahane has been terrific with the bat, especially during the powerplay overs for the defending champions. The KKR skipper has shown a decline in his scoring capacity considerably in the middle overs, which led to him playing a lot of dot balls. The right-handed batter has played 96 dots in 11 innings at a rate of 8.72. Despite the dot balls, the veteran compensated by hitting a lot of boundaries as well.

Mitchell Marsh - Lucknow Super Giants (101 dots)

At one point in the IPL 2025, Mitchell Marsh seemed to be a strong contender to win the Orange Cap for the season. However, missing matches in between meant a break to his momentum as LSG's premier opener. Marsh has the most dot balls for LSG and the third most in the 18th edition of the league. In 11 innings, the experienced opener has played 101 dot balls at a rate of 9.18.

Sai Sudharsan for Gujarat Titans (108 dots)

Sai Sudharsan, despite being one of the top contenders for the Orange Cap, makes it to the list for most dot balls played. The Southpaw has improved massively as a batter and has delivered a great season with a few games to go in the 18th edition of the season. The Tamil Nadu-born has 108 dot balls in 12 innings at a rate of 9 dots per innings, which is fine for someone to have played as many deliveries as him.

Yashasvi Jaiswal - Rajasthan Royals (125 dots)

Yashasvi Jaiswal played 125 dot balls in 14 innings in the IPL 2025 as his campaign came to an end. While he played extremely well for the Royals despite a sedated start, he still has not been able to win games on his own for the side that made it to the Playoffs the previous season. Jaiswal ended the season by scoring 559 runs at an average of 43.00 and a strike rate of 159.71. He played 125 dot balls in 14 innings at a rate of 8.93, which is fine for someone who completed his season.
