Team India endured their second loss in three days in the Super Four round of the ongoing Asia Cup. After losing to Pakistan in a nail-biting thriller, things went down the wire against Sri Lanka as well and yet again, Rohit Sharma and his men came second in the encounter. Many questions are being raised after their poor show in the Asia Cup and it is likely that a few changes will be made in the playing XI for the game against Afghanistan.

Skipper Rohit admitted after the loss against Sri Lanka that a few questions are still to be answered ahead of the T20 World Cup in Australia. Though India are still scheduled to play six more T20Is, the squad for the T20 World Cup is expected to be announced by September 16. Hence, the game against Afghanistan could be a last chance for the team to try out another combination.

3 Changes India might make for Afghanistan game in Asia Cup 2022:

1. Dinesh Karthik - IN, Rishabh Pant - OUT

Dinesh Karthik getting dropped for the Super Four round of the Asia Cup has baffled many. With Ravindra Jadeja getting ruled out of the tournament, Rohit Sharma cleared that the team wanted a left-hander in the middle-order to break the trend of right-handed batters.

However, Rishabh Pant hasn't justified his place with the scores of 17 and 14 in last two matches. On the other hand, Dinesh Karthik has been in excellent touch playing the role of a finisher since the Indian Premier League (IPL).

He also performed well on his India comeback finishing innings on a high almost everytime. Against Afghanistan, India will need his experienced to at least and Pant might have to sit out following two low-key outings.
