Andre Russell is known for his striking power in the shortest format and because of the same bowlers always need to be cautious against the Caribbean player. Back in 2019, everything went well for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, but Russell, who is a vital cog in KKR's squad, performed exceptionally with his bat and embarrassed the hosts in front of the home crowd.

Earlier in the match, riding on stunning batting displays from Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, and Marcus Stoinis, Bangalore scored 205/3 in 20 overs. Following the enormous total, KKR started aggressively but got shaken due to a loss of wickets at regular intervals. With the loss of five wickets at a score of 153, Knight Riders needed 53 to bag the match in three overs.

Following KKR captain Dinesh Karthik’s dismissal in the 17th over, there was an opportunity for Mohammed Siraj to bowl an economical over and worsen KKR’s situation in the match. However, during the tense situation of the game, he bowled a delivery to Russell that resulted in a beamer. What made the matter worse for RCB was that the ball went for a maximum.

After the horrendous no ball, Siraj couldn’t bowl anymore, and Stoinis got the task to complete the pacer’s over. The next ball from the Aussie also went for a six as Russell grabbed the benefit of a free hit with both hands. The epic contest is still known for Russell’s sensational match-finishing performance, but for Siraj, it became one of the most terrible nights to remember in his IPL career.
