T20 World Cup 2022 will commence on October 16 with the group stages and then the action will shift towards the Super 12 round from October 22. A marquee tournament like the World Cup sees the top players from around the world assemble and battle it out for the crown.

Each team selected the best bunch of 15 players who would represent their nations at the grandest stage of them all. However, there are some top performers in white-ball cricket who have performed exceptionally well at the bigger stages of late but have missed out on the spot for the global tournament. Let us look at the in-form players who will miss the upcoming T20 World Cup.

In-form players who will miss T20 World Cup 2022:

7. Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill was one of the chief architects of the Gujarat Titans' title triumph in IPL 2022. He was the run-bank for the franchise at the top of the order and gave his team solid starts regularly. The opening batter aggregated 483 runs in 16 games at a strike rate of 132.22.

Courtesy of his stellar showing in the lucrative T20 tournament, the 23-year-old made a comeback to the Indian squad in the 50-over format. Gill featured in the ODI series against West Indies and Zimbabwe and was just spectacular with the bat. In the white-ball assignments, he amassed a total of 450 runs in six ODIs at a strike rate of 111.66.

However, the incredible show with the bat did not prove to be enough for the Punjab batter to break into the Indian T20 setup. With the veteran duo of KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma a certainty to start the proceedings for the Men in Blue with the bat and the team having an able backup opening option in Virat Kohli, Gill was unable to make it to the T20 World Cup squad.
