Former Australian cricketer Brett Lee turned 41 on November 8, 2017. Lee, who was the pioneer of serious pace bowling of his generation, has been an inspiration to many budding cricketers across the globe. Even after his retirement, he continues to inspire the aspiring pace bowlers. A thorough gentleman of the game, Lee, is currently plying his trade in the commentary box and is a cricket analyst.

The cricket fraternity took to micro-blogging site Twitter to send their good wishes for ‘Binga’ – as he is popularly known. It was nice to see young pace bowlers wish Brett Lee on the occasion. The number one T20I bowler of the world at the moment, Jasprit Bumrah, was humble in his birthday wish as he called Lee an inspiration. “Happy Birthday @BrettLee_58 ! You’ve always been an inspiration for me. Wishing you a great year ahead,” tweeted Jasprit Bumrah.

Talking about the illustrious career that Lee has had in international career, the pace bowler played for over a decade for the Australian team. He featured in three World Cups for the Aussie team and was a part of the World Cup winning team in 2003 and 2007. He made his Test debut way back in 1999 and his ODI debut came in the following year in 2000.

He went on to play 76 Tests for Australia and scalped 310 wickets with 10 five wicket hauls to his name. He averaged just over 30 with the ball in the longest format. In the 221 ODIs that he played for the yellow jersey, he returned with 380 wickets. He averaged less than 24 in the limited overs format and had 9 five wicket hauls to boast about.

He is popular for having taken two hattricks. He has also featured in 25 T20Is for the Australian team, in which he bagged 28 wickets. He played his farewell international match against England in the year 2012 at Chester-le-Street. He certainly had an illustrious career that continues to inspire many. No wonder he is the favorite of so many people.
