England will be facing New Zealand in their ICC T20 World Cup 2022 Super 12 encounter at The Gabba in Brisbane on Tuesday, November 1. The Three Lions have three points to their tally having registered a five-wicket victory against Afghanistan. They then suffered a shocking five-run defeat against Ireland via DLS method and their much-awaited clash against arch-rivals Australia at the MCG had to be abandoned due to rain.

The Jos Buttler-led side cannot afford to lose plot from hereon as another defeat could well have their semi-final hopes hanging in the balance. The Group 1 is already highly competitive with all teams benefitting by getting extra points due to washouts and therefore, England must win this match at all costs.

The Kiwis on the other hand are strong contenders for the semis berth from Group 1 and they are on a roll with big wins over the title-holders Australia and Asia Cup champions Sri Lanka. The BlackCaps could have easily won three out of three had rain not played a spoilsport in their Super 12 clash against Afghanistan. New Zealand have five points to their tally at an NRR of 3.850.

Probable Playing XIs for ENG vs NZ

England:

Jos Buttler (C & WK), Alex Hales, Dawid Malan, Ben Stokes, Liam Livingstone, Harry Brook, Moeen Ali, Sam Curran, Chris Woakes, Adil Rashid, Mark Wood

Probable Top Performers from ENG vs NZ

Probable best batter: Glenn Phillips

Glenn Phillips was the star for New Zealand in the last game against Sri Lanka. He scored a blistering century under pressure at a time when the Kiwis had lost their top-order with hardly anything on the board. Phillips scored 104 runs off 64 deliveries as the BlackCaps registered a 65-run win. He was also adjudged the Player of the Match.

Probable best bowler: Sam Curran

The New Zealand batters must play Sam Curran with due care in his four-over spell as the youngster has the ability to do some serious damage with the ball in hand. He already has a fifer in this competition and currently has seven wickets to his tally. The star all-rounder has the potential to keep the explosive Kiwi batters quiet with his tight bowling.
