The social media war is yet to end after India’s high-voltage clash against Bangladesh on Wednesday, November 2. A couple of controversies emerged after the match as Nurul Hasan pointed out a potential ‘fake fielding’ by Virat Kohli while some theories state how India managed to manipulate the umpires to start the game even after the outfield was wet following a shower. Now interestingly, not everyone complaining are Bangladesh supporters. The Pakistan fans have also joined hands to mock the Indian cricketers and currently, there’s a massive feud going on between these two fanbases and that proves how heated this rivalry has become!
Over the years, there has been a massive debate about which is the greatest rivalry in cricket. While Ashes is the oldest rivalry in history, Indo-Pak brings modern-day charm to it. In recent times, the IND-PAK clash have broken a lot of attendance record and viewership and as per former South Africa international, Kobus Olivier, it is actually better than England versus Australia rivalry these days.
“I have spent a lot of time in the UK and they have always talked of the Ashes, the big one in cricket but the Ashes unfortunately I believe cannot rival a Pakistan-India match. I have never experienced something like it. I was fortunate one year to be in India. I was in Chennai during a match of the Asia Cup and it was a India versus Pakistan match and the whole of Chennai came to a standstill. Everybody was just watching cricket and after the match, everyone was talking about the match. So, it was unique and in England, it wasn’t anything like that. I would be in a taxi, talking about the Ashes and the taxi driver wouldn’t even - He would talk about Liverpool playing Manchester,” said Kobus on BatBricks7 presents Run Ki Runneeti show on CricTracker.
