West Indies chief selector and former cricketer Desmond Haynes has made a bold statement regarding Sunil Narine and Andre Russell after the pair were left out of the Windies' 15-man squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Haynes remarked that the selectors have 'decided to move on' from Andre Russell.

The explosive West Indian all-rounder, Andre Russell, has been involved in a cold war with Haynes over the past few weeks and now sees himself out of favor from the national squad. Russell had an exceptional outing in the inaugural editon of the 6ixty, amassing 137 runs in five innings at an astonishing strike rate of 192.95 with 15 sixes to his name.

Haynes is still not sure about Russell's commitment to the national team and is not convinced about the trailblazing all-rounder's performance either in the ongoing CPL competition. He informed compatriot Ian Bishop that the selectors are exploring other options, who are excelling in the shortest format of the game.

"We had a meeting with Andre Russell earlier in the year. We're still not convinced yet, he's not performing as well as we would like to see him in the competition. I think in the situation with Andre Russell, we've just decided to move on, and look for someone who's in form, and doing well in the T20 format," Haynes remarked in an interview with Ian Bishop during Wednesday's CPL game between Jamaica Tallawahs and St Kitts & Nevis Patriots.

The Windies' chief selector then revealed that veteran spinner Sunil Narine has also shown a lack of interest in representing the national side. Something the skillful spinner has not done in the last three years. Narine has been one of the most influential bowlers in the T20 format and has performed consistently in the CPL this season, backing his tremendous output of 12 wickets at a phenomenal economy rate of 4.37 last season.

"I did not get any notice from Narine regarding his availability to play. There were conversations that the captain was having with Narine, and from all reports, it seemed that he was not interested. Yes, again, the captain told me he's reached out to Narine, but I'm not too sure he wants to play," Haynes said to the press.
