New Zealand and the Netherlands are locking horns in Match 6 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on Monday, October 09 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. Netherlands skipper Scott Edwards won the toss and once again elected to bowl first. New Zealand got off to a good start after the first three maiden overs by Dutch bowlers. Their openers Devon Conway (32 off 40) and Will Young (70 off 80) added 67 runs for the first wicket.

During the innings, an astonishing moment was witnessed on the pitch as Netherlands players were witnessed reading their plans for the Kiwi batters. The viral image of Scott Edwards, Bas de Leede and other Netherlands players has gone viral all over social media.

However, the plans turned out to be of no use as New Zealand made full use of the good batting conditions and posted a massive score of 322/7 in their allotted 50 overs. Will Young (70 off 80), Rachin Ravindra (51 off 51) and Tom Latham (53 off 46) all scored half-centuries for the Kiwis. Mitchell Santner also played a blistering cameo of 36* (17) with the help of three fours and two sixes.

In reply, Netherlands didn’t get off to a great start as they were reduced to 67/3 after 16.4 overs with Vikramjit Singh (12 off 20), Max Odowd (16 off 31) and Bas de Leede (18 off 25) all back in the pavilion.

Colin Ackerman was the lone warrior for the Dutch

Only Colin Ackerman showed some fight with his knock of 69 (73) smashing five fours in his innings. No other batter from Netherlands could notch up a big score, as a result they were bundled out for 223 in 46.3 overs with Mitchell Santner picking 5/59 in ten overs.
