India registered successive victories in the 2022 T20 World Cup after humbling the Netherlands by 56 runs following a thrilling victory against Pakistan in the previous encounter. While Suryakumar Yadav set the tone with his blistering half-century, Virat Kohli continued his prolific run, compiling back-to-back half-centuries in the tournament. Former Indian opener Wasim Jaffer hoped for many more performances like this from the former Indian skipper.

Rohit Sharma's men were on the back foot for the first ten overs of the match after the Dutch bowlers dismissed KL Rahul cheaply and kept the pressure on with disciplined bowling. But once Kohli and Rohit got their eye in, the floodgates opened for India with Suryakumar Yadav adding the finishing gloss in the death overs.

Former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer reckoned that Kohli is looking back to his usual self and is looking to build his innings with singles and doubles in the initial part. He feels that the former Indian skipper was due the big scores after a lean couple of years and hopes for his form to continue in the future.

"This is how Virat Kohli builds his innings, he takes his time in the first 15-20 deliveries, but does not miss out on run-scoring opportunities after that. It was a perfect Virat Kohli-like innings. He tried to bat deep and maximize the run-scoring opportunities in the last five overs. That is the thing with him, once he gets back in form, he carries it for a long time, so you can expect this form to continue, hopefully, fingers crossed that he will carry on for a long, long time," said Jaffer while speaking on 'BatBricks7 presents Run Ki Runneeti' on CricTracker.

Jaffer also highlighted the importance of someone like Suryakumar Yadav, who scores at a rapid rate and can hit the ball a long way from the get-go.

"Suryakumar Yadav is very important for the team when you have someone like Virat at the other end. He takes the pressure away by taking on the bowlers and is the icing on the cake for India," he added.
