Afghanistan's talismanic wrist spinner Rashid Khan became the first bowler to complete 650 wickets in T20 cricket during the opening encounter of the The Hundred 2025.

Rashid achieved the feat in the one-sided clash between London Spirit and Oval Invincibles at the iconic Lord's Cricket Ground in London on Tuesday, August 5. Kane Williamson-led London Spirit won the toss and opted to bat first. Jordan Clark and Jason Behrendorff made early inroads with the new ball and had the batting side at 26/3 before Rashid began to weave his magic.

The 26-year-old started the onslaught by dismissing Wayne Madsen with the 43rd delivery of the innings. However, he scripted the record when he dismissed Liam Dawson plumb in front of the stumps LBW. Rashid also bagged the wicket of Ryan Higgins to finish with excellent figures of 3/11 in 20 balls. He bowled a whopping 15 dot balls during his spell.

The Afghanistan leg-spinner became the first player to achieve the feat as he now has 651 wickets in his T20 career from 478 innings at an average of 18.54 four five-wicket hauls to his name. Rashid has a strike rate of 16.90 and an economy rate of 6.57 in the shortest format of the game.

Rashid's heroics got good support from Sam Curran, who took three wickets as well. London Spirit were bowled out for 80 in 94 balls, with Ashton Turner top-scoring with a 14-ball 21.

In reply, Will Jacks and Tawanda Muyeye got the Invincibles off to a sedate start, adding a 34-run partnership off 32 balls. However, Dawson dismissed both the openers after they got off to decent starts. Curran chipped in with a nine-ball 14 before skipper Sam Billings and Donovan Ferreira took them home with six wickets and 31 balls to spare.
