Australia's limited-overs skipper Aaron Finch has made it clear that batting all-rounder Cameron Green might not be a last-minute inclusion in the team's T20 World Cup squad. At the same time, Finch also said that Green will not even make it if seasoned all-rounders Mitchell Marsh and Marcus Stoinis regain full fitness ahead of the marquee tournament.

It's just one of those things: Aaron Finch

"I don't think so. It's just one of those things. He had a really good tour of India. It was good for him to get an opportunity to open the batting so he'll get more opportunities," said Finch while speaking to ESPNcricinfo.

"I think he'll get an opportunity at some point in this series. Obviously, his batting is exceptional and he shows a lot with the ball. He keeps improving every time he gets an opportunity but over the next few weeks, he'll get a run no doubt," he added.

Green had memorable outings with the bat during the recent three-match T20I series against India. With the explosive batter  David Warner rested for the series, the 23-year-old was given the responsibility to open the innings for Australia and provided brisk starts to them.

The emerging all-rounder grabbed the opportunity with both hands and went on to score two half-centuries at an outstanding strike rate of 214.55. In the series opener, he scored a quickfire 61 runs off just 30 balls as the Aussies successfully chased down a mammoth 209.

It now remains to be seen whether Green will make the selectors rethink by showcasing consistent performances (if presented with opportunities) in the two-match T20I series against the West Indies starting Wednesday, October 5.

After the conclusion of the West Indies series, Australia will be hosting arch-rivals England for three T20Is that will be played on October 9, 12, and, 14.
