The 23-year-old was in a league of his own and won the IPL orange cap after scoring 890 runs in 17 matches while hitting three hundreds. Gill also surpassed Jos Buttler's record to score most runs in an IPL season as he only behind Virat Kohli (973 runs in 2016). The eye-pleasing opener was one of the major reasons that his team performed so well in the IPL 2023, however, Hardik Pandya and Co. lost the final to Chennai Super Kings in Ahmedabad.

Notably, the star Indian opener, who has dubbed for the Indian Spider-Man character Pavitr Prabhakar in Hindi as well as in Punjabi. Gill was recently asked about what would he do if he was given Spider-Man's powers. The cricketer initially said that he would want to swing across the buildings like Spider-Man but when asked what he would do if he was Spider-Man for a day, he said that he would want to use the spider sense to catch balls in the field.

"I would want to be Spider-Man in the World Cup final because I would have spider sense and I would be able to catch balls,” Gill told Pinkvilla.

Meanwhile, the swashbuckling opener will be a key player for India in the upcoming WTC final as well as the ODI World Cup scheduled to be played in India later this year. The Punjab-born player has shown great promise in such a young international career and is certainly someone who is rightly rated highly by the cricketing pundits.
