Varun Aaron praised Akash Madhwal for his performance against the Chennai Super Kings in the 62nd match of the IPL 2025 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. The Jiostar expert wondered why the Rajasthan Royals did not play him enough in the 18th edition of the league. Aaron felt Madhwal bowled well in the chances he got, with his round-arm action.
Aaron analysed Madhwal's bowling and felt his deliveries tend to tail in just before the contact with the bat. Aaron recognised it was the dismissal that fetched him the wicket of Brevis, who failed to recognise the incoming delivery and ended up getting an inside edge to fall into the trap. Aaron felt Madhwal executed his plans well and was rewarded in the match against CSK.

T20 Mumbai League 2025 to now start from June 4 to 12
"I thought he really used the conditions well, pulled some good yorkers with his round-arm action. He gets a little tail, just slightly tails in towards the end. Brevis missed it and got the inside edge. He had no hesitation, stuck to his plans, executed really well—and that’s how you do well in the IPL," said Madhwal in the Star Sports dugout.
The former IPL pacer was surprised with the fact that RR did not include him at the start of the season. In fact, he played only 4 out of RR's 14 matches in the season, most of which came after they were knocked out of the season. Aaron regarded Madhwal to be a great death bowler and felt he could have made a great bowling pair with Sandeep Sharma.
"I’m just surprised they didn’t start with Akash Madhwal this season. He had a very decent season last year. He’s got very good death bowling skills. The biggest concern was their death bowling. Alongside Sandeep Sharma, he would’ve made a really good pairing. I don’t know why they used him only after the 7th or 8th game—but he’s delivering results now," Aaron added.
I’m completely backing MI to take DC down: Varun Aaron
The former pacer touched upon the interference of the rain factor in some of the matches of the IPL 2025. He hoped the rain to not interrupt the match between Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians in the 63rd match of the season, which could decide the fate of both sides for their spot in the playoffs.
Aaron claimed KL Rahul to be a great batter at the Wankhede Stadium and felt he could be the only player from the DC lineup who could threaten the home side. The former Indian pacer backed the 5-time champions to win the game unless a special knock from the wicketkeeper batter.
"I really hope it doesn’t rain because it’s going to be a cracker of a game. There’s a lot on the line—big stakes. KL Rahul is at the Wankhede, and I really love him. The way he plays at the Wankhede, his stats there are unbelievable. He’s the only player in that whole setup who can really stand between MI and that game. Otherwise, I’m completely backing MI to take DC down," Aaron concluded.
