Sunrisers Hyderabad could only score 159 from their 20 overs as the Kolkata Knight Riders bowlers did a good job with the ball. Pat Cummins had decided to bat first after he won the toss. Mitchel Starc though had other plans as he ripped through the Sunrisers batting order.
Rahul Tripathi and Heinrich Klaasen did their best to get the team back into the contest as Tripathi scored a brilliant fifty. Klaasen fell for 32 just when he was looking good for a big score while Tripathi was run out due to a huge misunderstanding with Abdul Samad. Mitchell Starc ended the day with 3 wickets for 34 runs from his four overs.
Kolkata Knight Riders: 50 runs from 4.2 overs
Needing 160 to win, Kolkata Knight Riders began well as Rahmanullah Gurbaz played the role of the enforcer that Phil Salt was doing. The Afghan star went after the SRH bowlers as he scored 23 runs from 12 balls before falling to Natarajan in the 4th over of the chase.

Kolkata Knight Riders: 100 runs from 9.4 overs
SRH skipper Pat Cummins came into the attack and immediately got the big wicket of Sunil Narine. At that stage, it looked like Hyderabad were back into the game but Venkatesh Iyer used the long handle as he hit 3 sixes as KKR took firm control of the game.
Half-Century: Venkatesh Iyer off 28 balls
Kolkata Knight Riders did not look in trouble at all in the chase and that comes down to Venkatesh Iyer. The left-handed batter was aggressive with the bat as he hit a six to get to his 50 and put KKR on course to the final.
End of the match: Kolkata Knight Riders 164/2 from 13.4 overs
A match which was supposed to go down to the wire became one-sided as KKR won it with 38 balls left to play. Shreyas Iyer hit three sixes and a four to make sure the job was complete. With this win, Kolkata have now qualified for the final while SRH will wait for the loser of the game between RCB and RR to play in the second qualifier on Friday.
