Delhi’s Capital’s (DC) key player, Kuldeep Yadav missed the last two games of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024). He had picked a groin niggle that kept him away against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Match 16.
The spinner has been advised to rest and the move comes solely as a precautionary measure. As per ESPNcricinfo, there’s no further update on when he will be back in action. It comes as a good sign as the left-arm chinaman has been travelling with the team as it rules out the seriousness of the injury. DC will play their next game against Mumbai Indians (MI) on April 7. Kuldeep has accompanied the team in Mumbai and has been staying with them. He has played two games so far for the DC and has been a crucial factor in their winning prospects.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will be keen on monitoring the recuperation process of their star spinner. Kuldeep is deemed to lead India’s spin department in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. He is coming off a successful Test series against England. He was mercurial in the limited overs before, particularly World Cup 2023. The selectors have time and again preferred him over Yuzvendra Chahal owing to his ability to bat down the order.

Ponting embarrasses after 106-run loss against KKR
The 29-year-old has been featured in DC’s away games against Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Rajasthan Royals (RR). He has picked three wickets in two games but was unavailable against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Vizag. Though DC won their game against CSK, they had to bow out to KKR after a dominant defeat of 106 runs. The extent of the loss was felt in Head Coach Ricky Ponting’s words as he accepted that he was “almost embarrassed.”
“It's pretty hard to assess right now. I mean I was almost embarrassed with our first half of the game today. To concede that many runs, we bowled 17 wides and it took us two hours to bowl our overs as well, so we were two overs behind again, which means the guys bowling last two overs only get to bowl with four fieldsmen outside the circle,” Ponting said.

“Lot of things happened in this game that were unacceptable and a lot of things we will talk as a group tonight that we have to fix immediately to go forward in the competition. There will be some good open discussions in the changing room for sure,” the former Australia captain concluded.
