It was a tough day at the office for Hardik Pandya and his Mumbai Indians team. The former IPL winners endured a humbling 9-wicket loss to Rajasthan Royals in one of the most one-sided contests from this season of the Indian Premier League.

Batting first Mumbai Indians yet again found themselves in a huge spot of bother placed at 52/4. If it weren't for the 99-run stand by Tilak Varma and Nehal Wadhera, the scorecard would have made for an even worse reading.

Yashasvi Jaiswal took full toll on the sub-par bowling from Mumbai Indians to score his 2nd IPL century. The left-handed batter got to his ton with a single and let out a huge roar much to the delight of the capacity crowd that had come to watch the game.

Here are three changes that Mumbai Indians ahead of the next game against Delhi Capitals

3. Let Nehal Wadhera open the batting for Mumbai Indians

Ishan Kishan hasn’t been in the greatest of forms with the bat in the last few matches. In what was a crucial game of the season, the 25-year-old failed to perform with the bat yet again and was out for a duck.

Nehal Wadhera playing his first game of IPL 2024 scored 49 runs from 24 balls to help MI put up a decent score on the board. Since Ishan Kishan is under pressure, it may be worth trying Nehal Wadhera at the top of the order, Ishan Kishan can be tried in the middle-order as a finisher.

2. Hardik Pandya should bat at number four

It has been inexplicable as to why Hardik Pandya isn’t batting higher up the order. With the Gujarat Titans he was batting in the number three and number four spot on many occasions.

While Suryakumar Yadav cannot be moved from the number 3 spot, the number four could be the best place for Hardik Pandya to bat. Tilak Varma can bat at number five and can play the role of an enforcer with the bat and give MI the much-needed steel while batting.

1. Need to work hard on their fielding

It was an abysmal performance by the Mumbai Indians with the ball, but what was more shocking was their fielding. Three easy chances were put down while there were a few schoolboy errors which allowed RR to get some easy runs.

A side with the talent and quality of Mumbai Indians should be one of the best teams in the park. The team showed no will for a fight as they allowed the Royals to take home an easy win to extend their lead at the top of the table.
