IPL 2025: Why is Fazalhaq Farooqi not playing in CSK vs RR Match 62?

Fazalhaq Farooqi will not be featuring for Rajasthan Royals in Match 62 of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League against Chennai Super Kings at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday, May 20. He was one of the two changes made by RR in their last home game of the season.

Both sides were the first two to get knocked out of the competition. They will be keen on ending their season on a sweet note after disappointing for most parts of it. While this is RR's final game of the season, CSK have one more game to go.

Toss Update

Sanju Samson won the toss and elected to field first. Despite losing eight of the nine games while chasing this season, he hoped for the best and wasn't hesitant while opting to invite CSK to bat. MS Dhoni remarked on building for next season in addition to keeping it simple with the bat.

Yudhvir comes in for Farooqi

Right-arm medium pacer, Yudhvir Singh Charak, was named to be playing in the place of Farooqi. The Afghani left-arm seamer has failed to make an impact in the five games he has played so far. Farooqi has conceded runs at an economy rate of 12.35. This will be the Jammu-based Charak's fourth game this season.

We will bowl first. Looking at the last game against DC, there was something in it. There's no hiding in this game. We got to do it today. Everyone has to be a match-winner. They have to think like that. We need to be smarter and braver. We have a couple of changes. Yudhvir comes in.

MS Dhoni (Chennai Super Kings)

We want to express ourselves in our batting department. Need to figure out which individual will do well in which slot next year. Need to work on our bowling. Once we were out of the tournament, we wanted to find the answers for the next year. Need to look into the combination and a couple of players we can pick in the auction. We are on a roll in the batting department and we want to continue doing that, we struggled at the start of the season. When you are constantly under pressure, that doesnt' work. You don't need to play all kind of shots, need to be selective.
