'It is not going to stop me' - Nicholas Pooran vows to come back stronger after West Indies' embarrassing T20 World Cup exit

Underfire West Indies captain Nicholas Pooran has vowed to come back stronger after his side's disastrous exit from the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. The Windies suffered a shocking nine-wicket loss to Ireland in their final group encounter which halted their progress in the tournament.

However, a determined Pooran has said that he sees this as an opportunity instead of a setback and this forgettable campaign is not going to stop him from bouncing back strongly. He further added that the players just need to focus on themselves as of now and think about getting better as individuals.

"I have been thinking about the last couple of months, playing cricket is my dream and obviously I have had my test in life as well and this is another test for me. I am a person that embraces challenges and this was just another one for me," ESPNCricinfo quoted Pooran as saying

"It is not going to stop me. I am going to continue to learn from my experiences and again I am happy I can wake up in the morning and see that I have an opportunity to play cricket again," he added.

"Obviously, we do not know what the future holds but we will take it day by day. Again, it was a learning experience for all of us and this is our journey and our story. Time will tell what will happen but for now it is just about focusing on ourselves and how we can get better as individuals," he said.

The Caribbeans started their tournament with a humiliating 42-run defeat against Scotland and were able to prolong their tournament hopes following an impressive 31-run victory over Zimbabwe in their next group fixture.

With the West Indies failing to qualify for the Super 12 round, many cricketing experts called out the team for their disappointing performances and even the Cricket West Indies (CWI) President Ricky Skerritt stated of doing thorough inspection of the side as to what went wrong for them in Australia.
