Afghanistan (AFG) will cross swords with South Africa (SA) in the 42nd match of the ongoing ICC Men's ODI World Cup 2023 on Friday, November 10, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.  With eight points, Afghanistan are now tied for sixth place, while New Zealand and Pakistan are placed fourth and fifth, respectively, in the ODI World Cup points table. The Hashmatullah Shahidi-led side are coming off a humiliating three-wicket defeat at the hands of the five-time world champions, Australia, at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Now, speaking of the game that unfolded, Afghanistan opted to bat first after winning the toss and posted a competitive target of 292 with opener Ibrahim Zadran scoring a memorable unbeaten (129* off 143 balls) century. Thereafter, the Afghan bowlers ran riot from the start of the second innings as they managed to pick four wickets inside ten overs. However, Glen Maxwell's special blitzkrieg led the charge for the Kangaroos when they were stuttering at 91/7, at one stage.

The charismatic all-rounder scripted history by scoring an unbeaten 201 (128) runs with skipper Pat Cummins playing a perfect partner to chase down the target with 19 balls to spare. Meanwhile, South Africa, on the other hand, who have been in red-hot form for most of the ODI World Cup 2023, lost to hosts India in their previous game at the iconic Eden Gardens, in Kolkata. In terms of the game, India posted a mammoth 326 runs after opting to bat first. The Proteas batters struggled as they suffered a defeat by 243 runs.

No threat of rain during the Afghanistan versus South Africa ODI World Cup game

The ODI World Cup match between Afghanistan and South Africa will kick off at 2 p.m. (IST) at the renowned Narendra Modi Stadium, in Ahmedabad. As per AccuWeather, the temperature is expected to be 36 (high) degrees Celsius during the day and will reduce to a slightly cooler 22 (low) degrees Celsius at night.

With only a 1% possibility of precipitation during the daytime, the weather forecast for the match day shows no risk of rain interruption. The weather forecast on the match day predicts a slightly cloudy day with some sunshine.
