In what was a compassionate gesture, Punjab Kings' co-owner, Preity Zinta, contributed INR 1.10 crore to the Army Wives Welfare Association of the Indian Army's South Western Command. This generous offering came after India's Operation Sindoor was launched recently in response to the horrific terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22.
The Bollywood actor made the donation at an event held in Jaipur on Saturday, May 24. It was made from Zinta’s share of PBKS' Corporate Social Responsibility fund. The social impact fund was started with an aim to uplift Veer Naris (war widows) and sponsor the education of their children. She extended full support for the families of the martyred soldiers.
“It’s both an honour and a responsibility to support the courageous families of our soldiers. While we can never fully repay the sacrifices made by our armed forces, we can stand beside their families and help them move forward. We are incredibly proud of our soldiers and remain steadfast in our support for the nation and its brave protectors,” stated Zinta, as quoted by India Today.
Meanwhile, PBKS will play their last league phase game against Mumbai Indians at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Monday, May 26. They are already guaranteed a position in the playoffs. So far, they have won eight matches, lost four, and have had to share points due to rain once. IPL 2025 is the first time PBKS have made their entry into the playoffs after 2014.

As far as Zinta's work is concerned, she is all set to make her comeback on the big-screen with the eagerly-awaited ‘Lahore 1947’. She will be starring alongside renowned Bollywood actor, Sunny Deol. This film (produced by Aamir Khan) which is based on India’s partition would mark a comeback of Zinta to Bollywood after an extended hiatus from the industry.
