Australian cricketer Travis Head registered his name into the history books with a blistering century in the 2023 ODI World Cup final against India. However, the 30-year-old opener has expressed regret over the boozy celebrations that followed, drawing comparisons to the legendary David Boon and his infamous 52-beer flight.
Head smashed a wonderful 137 runs off 120 balls, guiding Australia to a six-wicket victory over the hosts and silencing the Ahmedabad crowd. He helped the Aussies lift their sixth ODI World Cup.
While the victory called for celebrations, Head admits his celebrations went overboard, with videos of his drunken antics surfacing on social media.
"It's a hard one to sum up. I think I'm just being me and that's the beauty of Pat [Cummins] and Ronnie [Andrew McDonald] and what they've brought to the team, and how I've just been able to be me around the group. In terms of the Boony stuff, it's probably the only downfall from the World Cup. The post [celebrating] stuff that snuck itself out and some of the carry-on I would have liked to not go out," Head told News Corp.

Australia have advanced to Super Eight stage in T20 World Cup 2024
Head's exploits drew comparisons to David Boon, the Australian great who famously drank 52 beers on a flight to England before the 1989 Ashes series. While flattered by the association with Boon, Head expressed concern over the perception it created
"Just for some of the perception stuff. A bit like Boony with the flight," Head said in a podcast while expressing his disappointment.
Head, who is a father now and has a daughter, Milla Paige Head, recognised the importance of setting a good example in the world.
