The Pakistan Super League is set to enter a landmark phase with its 11th edition in 2026, which will be the longest season in the tournament’s history. The upcoming edition will span across 39 days, stretching the league calendar by nearly a week compared to previous editions that lasted 30 to 35 days. With the addition of two new franchises, the league will have an increased number of fixtures.
PSL 2026 is scheduled to be played from March 26 to May 3, with Lahore Qalandars returning as the defending champions. From this season onward, the league expands from six to eight teams and introduces a major shift by adopting a player auction system in place of the traditional draft.
The tournament will also debut a revamped format, featuring a single round-robin stage where each team will face the others once, followed by a Super Four phase and the playoffs. With expanded squads, a longer window, and a fresh competition structure, PSL 2026 promises to be its most competitive edition yet.
The PSL auction concluded recently, with significant action unfolding across eight hours. Naseem Shah and Faheem Ashraf bagged the biggest paychecks, with the former going to Rawalpindi for PKR 86.5 million (INR 2.8 crore approx), while Faheem made his return to Islamabad United for PKR 85 million (INR 2.75 crore approx).
