It was a proper Caribbean show at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup at the iconic Eden Gardens, Kolkata as two-time T20 World champions West Indies beat Scotland by 35 runs in their opening contest.
The most enthralling moment of the match came in the 17th over of Scotland’s chase. Romario Shepherd, who had conceded 19 runs in his first two overs, came in to bowl his third, and what followed was history, as he took a historic hat-trick in a four-wicket over to complete his five-for.
He got Matthew Cross out on the second ball of the over, Michael Leaks’s wicket fell on the third ball. Shepherd then uprooted left-hander Oliver Davidson's off-stump on the fourth ball to complete a sensational hat-trick.

He did not stop there. On the final ball of the over, he claimed yet another wicket to complete a sensational and match-winning over. His bowling figures read five wickets for 20 runs in three overs.
This was his second hat-trick in T20I cricket, as he became only the fourth bowler from a full-time nation to achieve the feat. Overall, this was 10th hat-trick in T20 World Cup history.
Shimron Hetmyer pulls off a screamer
In the fifth over, Hetmyer pulled off a stunning catch. Munsey went for the pull against a short delivery from Shamar Joseph and connected well, sending the ball flat towards deep backward square-leg. Shimron Hetmyer tracked the ball calmly, moved across to his right, and timed his dive perfectly.
Fully stretched, he extended his right hand and completed a one-handed catch before landing safely inside the rope. It was a sharp, high-quality effort in the deep, leaving Munsey stunned as he departed for 19 off 15 balls.
