'Wankhede and Kolkata not getting games, it is all a circus' - BCCI gets flak for poor scheduling of BGT 2027 venues
Only the first two games of the BGT 2027 are scheduled to be played at regular Test centres (Nagpur and Chennai).

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently announced the schedule of its upcoming home season of the men's side. The entire home season includes just one Test series, which also headlines the schedule, as it is going to be the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2027, for which a touring Australian team will be facing the Shubman Gill-led side for five matches, starting in late January.
The first Test of the highly anticipated series between India and Australia will be played at Nagpur's Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Jamtha, while the historic MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai will be hosting the second fixture. However, the next three games will be played at Guwahati, Ranchi, and Ahmedabad.
The venues for the last three matches of a marquee series like BGT have disappointed the fans, and they have openly displayed their sorrow via their social media channels. Many cricket fans on the internet are of the opinion that a champion team like Australia deserves to play their matches at iconic venues like Wankhede Stadium, Eden Gardens, or the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium instead of the allotted host cities.
Here's how 'X' is reacting to the venues of BGT 2027:
Everything else is fine but Wankhede and Eden Gardens not getting any BGT games since 2004 and Ranchi, Ahmedabad and Guwahati (which was not even a Test venue before 2025) getting such big ticket events is a reason why it is all a circus.

Enjoy having empty seats now.
They should play all the matches in Ahmedabad

No test in Mumbai, Kolkata is a joke….

No Eden, Wankhede, Chandigarh for tests? C'mon....these high intensity games need iconic places

One query which @BCCI mandarins can answer.

I understand the rotation system. So Nagpur (last Test in 2023), Ranchi (last Test 2024), Ahmedabad (last Test 2023) and Chennai (last Test 2024) got BGT Tests.
How in the world did Guwahati (Nov, 2025 vs SA) once again came in Test…
Everything now either with Ahmedabad or Guwahati

No Wankhede, no Eden Garden , No feroz Shah Kotla for BGT https://t.co/4OB08hkQKm
BGT Should be in

1 Mumbai
2 Kolkata
3 Dharmshala
4 Ahemdabad
5 Chennai
5 Premium Locations.....
Guwahati is worst venue for test in india (As of Now) https://t.co/ILEcAj4ITr
The BCCI seems to be proving yet again that Test cricket in India is no longer a priority.

Once more, they've sidelined traditional strongholds like Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, and Dharamsala, opting instead for random venues such as Ranchi, Guwahati, and Ahmedabad#BGT #INDvAUS https://t.co/qyCB7o4vJN
No BGT test in Mumbai since 2004. Absolute joke the way they treat iconic venues compared to what Australia and England do.

Ohhh Ahmedabad features. What a surprise… https://t.co/TfyDWdEyJb
So BCCI ignored TEST venues like Dharamshala, Mumbai, Kolkata for upcoming Australia Tour of India and gave BGT matches to random stadiums like Ranchi, Guwahati and Ahmedabad 🤦👀😂 pic.twitter.com/fye9bNrUfz

bgt can be played in ahmedabad but not at eden, wow. truly, eden gets robbed all the time.

BCCI's "Rotation Policy" has given BGT Test games to Ahmedabad ( last hosted OCT 2025) and Guwahati (last hosted NOV 2025)
— Anuj Nitin Prabhu (@APTalksCricket) March 26, 2026
Wankhede and Eden Gardens laughing in the corner saying "Don't make it so obvious brother"
Australia will be welcomed with empty stadiums. Nice.
Horrible venues for a top series. Why another Test in Guwahati?
— Sahil Malhotra (@Sahil_Malhotra1) March 26, 2026
Why not Mumbai, Dharamsala, Kolkata?
Both Ahmedabad, Guwahati got Tests vs WI and SA. Where is rotation policy?
High time 5 Test centre policy is implemented. Keep hosting white-ball, IPL in Guwahati all year! pic.twitter.com/7OVnHMQpbz
This would be like Australia hosting its five marquee Tests in Hobart, Brisbane, Kalgoorlie, Wollongong and Canberra. https://t.co/g1xKtIlXk8

People talk about games not allotted to major centres. But that has not been happening for many years now.
— Ajinkya Dhamdhere (@ajinkyasd) March 26, 2026
Proper rotation not being followed with some venues getting too many games should be discussed more. And those venues are not traditional marquee venues.
Absolutely stupid from BCCI to schedule a ODI at Delhi in Dec and more ridiculous is not having BGT at Mumbai/Kolkata/Bengaluru!!
— Akash (@akashd7781) March 26, 2026
To not have an Australia Test in Mumbai, kolkata or Bangalore - at least one of these centres if not all - is blasphemous https://t.co/kerTxVJGJy
