Former India captain Rohit Sharma made his grand arrival at The Oval in London on Saturday, July 2, to watch the action in the fifth and final Test match between India and England. After the first two days turned out to be an entertaining affair, Day 3 promises to be riveting as well, with the series hanging in the balance at 2-1 in favour of the home side.
Rohit was expected to lead the side in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025. He led India in their previous Test assignment against Australia in the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. However, he had been struggling to score runs in the longest format for quite some time.
In the middle of the Indian Premier League (IPL), he shocked the cricket fraternity by announcing his retirement from the red-ball format. He took to his official social media handle on May 7 to reveal his decision.
On Saturday, it was great to see him back at a cricketing venue, albeit as a fan. A video of him entering the iconic stadium has gone viral on the internet.
