In a rain-interrupted match at Port of Spain, the second Test of the two-match series between West Indies and India ended in a draw, leaving both teams with mixed feelings about the outcome. West Indies captain Kraigg Brathwaite expressed his team's fighting spirit with the bat, even as rain ruined the final day's play.

While the weather played spoilsport and denied them an opportunity to press for a victory, Brathwaite praised the performances of young talents Alick Athanaze and Kirk McKenzie. Athanaze managed to score an impressive 112 runs in three innings, while McKenzie showed his potential with 32 runs in the first innings before being dismissed for a duck in the second.

"We showed some fight in this game with the bat. However, there is room for improvement in terms of our bowling discipline. The batters made an impressive comeback, but losing five wickets yesterday was a setback. On the bright side, it's pleasing to see the top-order batting for over 100+ overs," Brathwaite stated while addressing the media after the game.

Despite the unfortunate weather conditions, West Indies skipper emphasized the team's positive approach, as he added:

"We were very positive, we had 98 overs on a pitch that was relatively good. It was on. Unfortunately, with the weather, we didn't get a chance. Alick Athanaze came in and looked the part from the word go. Kirk as well, he looked good in the first innings."

The series eventually ended with India claiming a 1-0 victory, courtesy of their massive win against the West Indies in the first Test held in Dominica. The rain-affected draw in Port of Spain denied the hosts a chance to level the series, leaving the Caribbean team with a sense of what could have been.

Despite the outcome, the young talents displayed promise for the future of West Indies cricket, offering hope and optimism to the team and its fans. The focus now shifts to the upcoming fixtures, where both sides will aim to build on their performances and seek further improvement in their game.
