After the Men treated fans with a thrilling encounter in the first Ashes Test of 2023, the focus will shift to Women’s Ashes as Australia and England are all set to lock horns in the one-off Test from June 22 at Trent Bridge, Nottingham. Notably, it will be for the first time that the two teams will be playing a five-day Test in Ashes.

The one-off Test will be followed by three T20Is starting from July 01 and three ODIs starting from July 12. The Women’s Ashes series follows a points system, with a Test victory worth four points, and each ODI and T20 win worth two points.

Australia won the last Ashes series in 2022 by 12-4 and will look to continue their dominance over the arch-rivals in the upcoming series as well. The Australian women are the current world champions of both ODI and T20 cricket having won the Women's World Cup in 2022 and Women's T20 World Cup in 2023.

They further have eight years of unbroken Ashes series victory streak to their name. However, they will be missing their regular captain Meg Lanning during the series as the star batter has been ruled out due to a "medical issue". Veteran wicketkeeper-batter Alyssa Healy has been handed the responsibility of captaincy in Lanning's absence.

On the other hand, Alice Capsey and Alice Davidson-Richards have both been released from England’s Test squad for the Ashes and have been named in the England Women A squad for their first T20 against Australia A. Notably, England named their playing XI a day before the one-off Test and Lauren Filer and Danni Wyatt are all set for their maiden red-ball game.
